Owspace

The design team believes that bookstore is a" humanistic scenery, a cultural domain" or even interpreted as a place of liberation for minds. This project aims to gather the public to spend their whole day in there and attract the literati of Hangzhou or even the world. The historical streets of Hangzhou, pedestrians beside the large canal, natural landscapes and the rich humanistic life, form the design elements of the space. Thus, the materials of the spatial elements, bookshelves, displays and furniture are specifically chosen to preserve the patterns and touches of natural materials.

The Atticum

The charm of a restaurant in an industrial environment should be reflected in the architecture and furnishings. The black and grey lime plaster, which was specially developed for this project, is one of the proofs of this. Its unique, rough structure runs through all the rooms. In the detailed execution, materials such as raw steel were deliberately used, whose welding seams and grinding marks remained visible. This impression is supported by the choice of muntin windows. These cold elements are contrasted by warm oak wood, hand-planed herringbone parquet and a fully planted wall.

Banlan Hairdressing

Banlan adopted the rough and pure concrete in the façade without too much decorations, showing a sense of tension in the space. A touch of blue is clear and open, which is infinitely extended to nothingness, full of artistic vitality. The combination of these two elements create a sense of distance and independence. By reorganizing the space, the designer breaks the traditional conventions of hairdressing salon and injects three major elements: mystery, technology and specialty, which are constantly changing, blending and weaving to meet the needs of customers.
