To tell the history of a city is, in the end, to tell the story of its people. Because if there were no people, this city would have no history worth telling. Every metropolis has its history, take Zhengzhou for example from boundless farmland to densely tile-roofed houses to today's high-rise buildings, the change carries memories of generations. From life trivial to the striving goal, it is people's daily living that weaves the urban prosperous.
Continue readingXian Canopy is a hotel interior design located on a historic street in Xian, China. The design combines Tang Dynasty culture with contemporary lifestyle. The atrium is arranged as a canopy center that links check-in, lounge, lift lobby, restaurants, coffee shop and meeting rooms, so guests move easily and gather for events such as music performances. Acoustic design supports these activities. Guest rooms are kept simple, with gradient wall coverings inspired by Tang Dynasty fabrics. The project covers 32000 square meters and includes 125 guest rooms.
Continue readingComprised of 11 buildings in total, the thriving business district fuses modern functionality with a streamlined design philosophy that considers the outdoors as part of your workday by introducing open to sky courtyards and irregular open spaces within the buildings. A parking area spread across two levels along with car drop-off spots available at each building, ensure a smooth journey for all visitors. The commercial and retail area on the ground level boasts a dynamic dining and shopping experience, with renowned brands and global cuisines coming together in one lively and bustling space.
Continue readingVicutu Concept is a flagship store interior created for a fashion brand in Beijing. The store covers 1,680 square meters on two floors. A large three-dimensional aluminum woven diagrid system forms the facade and refers to the fabric and tailoring of men's clothing. Inside, textured artistic cement walls create a calm and sculptural setting. Walls and display counters appear to grow from the floor and the ceiling, and hidden light sources strengthen the sense of continuity. The interior offers visitors a physical experience of space and fashion.
Continue readingGlory In History is a sales center located in Chengdu, China. The interior connects traditional and modern design through color, and it takes inspiration from a green landscape painting of the Northern Song Dynasty. A traditional courtyard layout is used, and each space is linked to the next to form a rich spatial sequence through turning axes. A porcelain screen is arranged in a horizontal and vertical array, molded on the glaze and finely cut to create an effect of separation and breaking. A large bronze pendant shaped like a sailboat marks the meditation area.
Continue readingThe stimulating and creating moments are happening every now and then the illustration artist from the team has drawn a set of comic like illustration to translate the user guide of snow gears and the brand history development, researching the brand history and social networks in China to make the store a landmark and photographable is another challenge, the design team works hard on combining the traditional Chinese wood construction structure with modern architectural structure and bring back the memory of the brand history in this conflicting space is the final goal.
